    About Vincent S.

Ever since I can remember, I've been in love with music. As a youngster, my parents both played guitar around the house, and I can remember whole family sing-a-longs with 3 part harmonies at the tops of lungs! It was there that my life of music began. I was lucky to have music as a part of my life at a young age. Over the years, I took piano lessons, and guitar lessons, and began writing songs in high school. I played in several rock bands. And somewhere along the line, I decided that I wanted this to be my life. With that being decided, I practiced and worked hard to make a life of music happen. I've been blessed to have a lot of great experiences in music, including having my band sign to a major label, nationwide touring, songs on the radio, and a video on MTV, and endless stories that I'll never forget! I love to impart my experiences, passion, and love of music to my students, to help them achieve whatever goals they may have for themselves. No matter what your age or skill level, I can help you to play the music you want to learn. I like to keep it fun and interesting right off the bat, to keep the students engaged and motivated. And I also like to connect personally with my students so that they know that I care about their progress, and to make sure that they're enjoying their experience! Maybe you're a future rock star? Or at least a future bonfire champion! Either way, let's make some music together. I'm available for guitar lessons, and guidance/lessons in songwriting & performance. *** Lesson Details *** I'm a laid back and encouraging teacher, who likes to connect with students on a personal level. And when I first meet a new student, I like to find out what their personal goals for lessons are. And I like to find out what kind of music they enjoy. Based on those things, I set a plan to get them playing as quickly as possible. I believe it's important to learn reading music, and how notes work together, and any other theory they might be interested in. But I also believe it's important to keep lessons fun with learning songs that the student will enjoy playing. If a student is enjoying what they are learning (and able to share with other people), it keeps them interested and engage in the learning, and able to get further. Every student has a different skill level they are starting at, but I can confidently say that no matter what, they will see improvement as time goes on. I recommend Guitar Method 1 by Hal Leonard for an introduction into the basics of music on guitar. *** Studio Equipment *** Lessons in the music room, hard wood floors, upright piano, guitar amps, 1st floor *** Travel Equipment *** Guitar amp, 1/4" cable, picks, acoustic guitar, and electric guitar if necessary. Most students should have their own guitar and picks and amp (if they're playing electric guitar), or should get one soon in order to practice. For piano, they should have a piano or keyboard. I can bring the study books with me, or they can order online. *** Specialties *** I love many genres, and have experience teaching rock, pop, folk, indie, country, and contemporary christian too!
