I am currently a student at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Business. I have past experience in Java through my major and in the field through my past internship at HomeAway where I served as a Java backend developer.
Students can learn fundamental new skills in Computer Science that can be applied to virtually any object oriented programming language both in the classroom and out in the industry. My lessons will generally vary based on a student's past exposure to Computer Science fundamentals and what they hope to learn. Don't worry, you do not need to have any prior experience in Computer Science.
Some of the concepts students can expect to learn include Expressions and Variables, loop structures, concepts of functions and parameters, Boolean logic, File input/output and parsing, and common data structures. All these concepts are applicable to any programming language. Additionally, lessons on data structures are very important as they are the questions commonly asked within technical interviews.
I have a passion for computer science and hope to spread some of the knowledge I have to those who would like gain exposure to this growing industry.
Worked as a Java backend developer on the HomeAway Secure Communications team.
