    Victorius Michel is a native from Den Haag/ The Hague, NL. He began his dance training at the Diana Meijer Dance Academy. He is a graduate of the Lucia Marthas University, Amsterdam (NL), where he earned a BFA in Musical Theater and a BA in Education. He is a 2-time recipient of the VanDenEnde Foundation scholarship grant and a recipient of the EMIA Summer Award of Merit & Talent Scholarship. He attended the Ailey Summer intensive and EMIA summer intensive, and studied at the Ailey school where he completed the independent study. He has performed works by a range of choreographers including Troy Powell, Anthony van Laast, Bob Fosse, Pearl Primus, Abdel Salaam. Victorius has danced background for recording artist Lisa Lisa, Danced in Saturday Night the Musical (NL). In 2015 he performed in Santiago de Cuba at the FinDance Festival with KaNu Dance Theater. In 2016 he toured Japan with Vissi Dance Theater. He also performs with Something Positive Inc, Phyllis Rose and Forces of Nature. Victorius is also an arts in education teacher and has taught for EM Techniques, Arts to Grow and the Lucia Marthas Academy, in the styles ballet, hip hop, jazz, Tap, Afro-Caribbean and contemporary. He joined the Teaching Artist Roster of AIley’s Arts in Education and Community Programs in 2016

    KaNu Dance Theater

    The mission of KaNu Dance Theater is to promote change and peace in Haiti and around the world by sharing with the world; Haitian heritage, history, culture, and educating our spectators through contemporary, modern, and Afro-Haitian dance. KaNu is an abbreviation for “Ka Pa Nou” in Haitian-Kreyol which means “Our Situation.” KaNu Dance Theater hopes to be able to continue to share “Our Situation” or better yet “KaNu” through dance, theater and song.

    Okra Dance Company

    The Okra Dance Company was created by the late dancer/choreographer Phillip Bond. Shireen Dickson is now directing the company. It is composed of accomplished professional dancers and experienced teachers. Their vast experience includes Broadway, touring theater, as well as well-known dance companies around the country. The dancers are equally adept at performing tribal dances from Africa, social dances from around the world, American tap dance, and Broadway dance of today. All programs are highlighted with humor and audience participation. At the end of each show, audience members are brought on stage to try some dance movements themselves.
