My name is Victoria Bartholomew and I am excited to start working with new students! I've been teaching private lessons since 2008 and have loved watching my students grow at their individual pace.
I went to the University of Utah and earned a degree in Special Education in 2013. I am easy going and dedicated to my student's success. My teaching style is casual, fun, and moves at the pace of the student. I find that it's very important to match the student's time and comfort level before assigning skills to work on. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!
For musical lessons, I typically lean towards more traditional teaching methods but am quick to blend different methods based on student needs. Instead of forcing theory, I enjoy teaching theory in a practical way. Incorporating musical theory that is meaningful for a specific piece of music tends to lead to better memorization and increased understanding.
I am currently participating in the Salem Philharmonic Orchestra and taking my own advanced violin lessons to continually improve my teaching ability. However I previously have experience playing for private weddings, in small groups, fiddle music, and traditional orchestras. I also play the piano and trombone, but don't offer lessons on those instruments at this time.
I have been giving violin lessons to several students at a time over the past 10 years. There have been a few periods while I was in school that I did not have students.

She was great!!!!!
Great first lesson! Perfect fit!
We had our first lesson this week with Victoria and it was great! My daughter (10) has been taking violin for 2 1/2 years and this is the first time we have had to change teachers. Victoria was engaging and careful to ask a lot of questions and pay close attention to my daughter's strengths and areas of needed improvement. She said they will work towards preparing her to play with an orchestra, which is appropriate as we move towards middle school!+ Read More
