I have been teaching private piano and voice lessons since 2006 to students of many ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. I received my BA in piano and voice performance from Columbia College Chicago. I also received my MA in Community Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University. I know how to teach music, develop a rapport with students and families, and modify my teaching approach based on students' most natural learning abilities. I also love performing. I am in two bands, and I am a solo jazz artist in voice and piano (I play the piano and sing at the same time). My newly released recordings have been featured on WDCB 90.9 fm. I, myself, still take voice and piano lessons from jazz professionals to further enhance my skill set. I offer 30-minute or 60-minute lessons on a weekly basis. Most of my students have wanted to learn either voice or piano. However, I can teach self-accompaniment skills (playing piano while singing) to more intermediate/advanced students who are interested. I have a baby grand piano, microphone, sound system, and electric piano in my home studio. I also have many, many music books. Having access to all this equipment helps make lessons effecient and effective. For that reason, I only offer lessons through my home studio. I do require that any voice students under 10 years old simultaneously take piano lessons with me, as piano will give young voice students a more thorough music education. Lastly, music is for everyone. Anyone can learn music, no matter your age or current ability. Anything you practice is bound to get better! My students will develop a greater love of music and an appreciation for their own creativity when they take lessons with me. I enjoy joking around during lessons, finding playfulness in the moment, and getting to know my students as unique *people* more than anything.
