From backpack adventures, to everyday unseen wonders and curiosities, I find my inspiration by observing the natural world around me. I create mixed media art that uses traditional and experimental drawing, printmaking, and watercolor techniques. I graduated from California University of PA with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in drawing and printmaking. Since moving to Pittsburgh I have exhibited my work at galleries (including Image Box and Assemble) and started designing costumes and creating performance artworks that have been performed at community venues and events.
I currently teach art classes at the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Pittsburgh Glass Center and various other art organizations and galleries in Pittsburgh. I have also taught at the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in New Mexico and am the creator and coordinator of a youth art program in Greene County.
My professional experiences have allowed me to teach a wide range of students from diverse backgrounds and with varied skill levels. I enjoy getting to know my students and creating an adaptable, flexible, and supportive space that fits their needs and goals. Lessons can explore specific art techniques, as well as art history, and creative ideas and concepts and the variety of ways to bring those ideas to life- through sculpting, puppetry, and even performance.
My years both as a teacher and a practicing artist have taught me that sharing art experiences and learning alongside my students is truly an honor. I would be delighted to share what I know with you.
