-BFA in Performance from The Newschool for Jazz and Contemporary Music, 2011. -Private Teacher BnB Music -Freelance jazz/classical woodwind player (NYC,DC, and Chicago) Hi! Thanks for visiting my page. Before anthing else, music should be fun. If you want to learn and get better at playing, listening, and experiencing music in your daily life, then it would be my privilege to help you do that. I grew up in a musical household, thankfully, and I have come to appreciate and value my upbringing more and more as I've gotten older. I see my teaching as a way to share the joy of music making that I have been fortunate enough to engage with since I was a kid. I do my very best to give my students the kind of information that ignites them to practice and discover things on their own. I want to empower my students through music and find new ways grow and learn with them. Let's get started. -Tristan *** Lesson Details *** (See Service Details) *** Studio Equipment *** Sheet Music *** Travel Equipment *** I'll provide copies of the music we're working on, a stand if need be, metronome, tuner, and possibly would rent an instrument with appropriate contracting. *** Specialties *** FLUTE: I specialize in concert band flute, orchestral excerpts, classical/baroque flute, and jazz/improvising. While in music school I studied and played professionally in a brazilian choro ensemble and am very well versed in latin flute music and its practice/application as well. SAXOPHONE: Alto or Tenor. Jazz/Improvising. Jazz etudes and duets. Classical etudes and duets.

I met Tristan in the early 2000s. He got me really drunk and then he and his friends sexually abused me. I saw he was on here and thought I ought to say something.

Tristan is an excellent teacher Tristan is an unusual combination of an excellent musician and wonderful teacher. He has been teaching my 15 year old son the saxophone for the past 6 months and is always on time, very enthusiastic, well organized and supportive. I can't recommend him enough.

Natural teacher, great rapport Tristan has been teaching my daughter flute for four months, and she has learned a lot more than she previously knew, even though she had a private flute teacher for the past 6 years. Tristan has a way of giving constructive instruction in such a positive way, my sensitive daughter never feels like it is criticism but rather encouragement. Because she is already a fairly skilled flautist they can dive right into working on music and refining technique, and Tristan brings her a variety of interesting and challenging pieces to work on. Because he is a flautist too they can play together, which inspires her to improve to keep pace with him. He explains things so clearly that she easily gets the point. He is a talented musician and a natural teacher, and has a great rapport with kids & teens. My daughter really enjoys her weekly lessons.
