I've been teaching since I was an undergrad in New York City. I've taught college saxophone players how to play flute, vocalists how to scat bebop over standard songs, high school age kids, children just getting started, adults picking up a new hobby, spouses wanting to learn an instrument to play for their anniversary, the list goes on. I pride myself on balancing what a student needs vs. what they want during my lessons. I do my very best to give my students the kind of information that ignites them to practice and discover things on their own. I want to empower my students through music and find new ways grow and learn with them. Thanks for reading that paragraph!

SAXOPHONE: Alto or Tenor. Jazz/Improvising. Jazz etudes and duets. Classical etudes and duets.
CLARINET: Classical etudes/duets
I maintained a weekly roster of 12-15 students through BnB Music Lessons. I drove to their houses and taught either 30,45, or 60 min lessons. I taught flute, saxophone, clarinet and piano. The majority of my students were kids, ages ranging from 6-15.
Tristan is an excellent teacher
Tristan is an unusual combination of an excellent musician and wonderful teacher. He has been teaching my 15 year old son the saxophone for the past 6 months and is always on time, very enthusiastic, well organized and supportive. I can't recommend him enough.
Natural teacher, great rapport
Tristan has been teaching my daughter flute for four months, and she has learned a lot more than she previously knew, even though she had a private flute teacher for the past 6 years. Tristan has a way of giving constructive instruction in such a positive way, my sensitive daughter never feels like it is criticism but rather encouragement. Because she is already a fairly skilled flautist they can dive right into working on music and refining technique, and Tristan brings her a variety of interesting and challenging pieces to work on. Because he is a flautist too they can play together, which inspires her to improve to keep pace with him. He explains things so clearly that she easily gets the point. He is a talented musician and a natural teacher, and has a great rapport with kids & teens. My daughter really enjoys her weekly lessons.
Gets kids, keeps it interesting
Tristan is teaching my 10 yr old piano and my 12 year old saxophone. He comes to our house and has been totally reliable. He very quickly had a good read on each of them and pushes them appropriately hard while varying things up enough to keep things interesting and fun. We've been very pleased.
Great with kids
Tristan has been giving my 11 year old lesson for about six months. He is very patient and does a great job explaining musical concepts. My son looks forward to his weekly lessons
Really enjoy having Tristan teach my child
Tristan has been working with my 6th grade son this year. They share a great rapport. He seems to to really be able to relate to kids well. He is very reliable. Always on time, and responds very quickly to any email or phone call I send. I love hearing them practice, doing some duets, and hearing the new music Tristan comes up with along with the music my son picks.
I am very happy to have Tristan teaching sax!
