I've been playing and teaching cello professionally for over seven years now, having received my Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music. As an active performing and recording cellist, I bring passion and real world experience across a wide range of styles, and I'm always looking for new and exciting repertoire to bring to my students. I strive to strike a balance in my cello lessons, building on a foundation of traditional classical study while embracing the many wonderful roles the cello can play in the modern music world. I take pride in inspiring a true love of music in my students. As a result, I place great importance on understanding not just how to play the cello, but why we're playing it in the first place. I try to discuss the tools of playing in the broader context of things like phrasing, character, and storytelling. It's incredibly rewarding to see a student finally realize that music can be more than simply playing the correct notes!
