    About Tree P.

I'm a trumpeter, composer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist with experience in multiple genres and settings, and I hope to help brass players and musicians of all types achieve the artistic goals they're aiming for. In 2011, I attended the Brubeck Institute Fellowship Program in Stockton, CA, where I recorded the album "Origins" with the Downbeat Award-winning Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet. I attended Harvard College and graduated cum laude with a degree in English, then completed a Master's degree in Jazz Studies at the New England Conservatory, where I studied with luminaries like Jason Moran and John McNeil. While at the conservatory, I also studied singing and songwriting with Dominique Eade and Hankus Netsky and was selected to perform at the 2017 Panama Jazz Festival. My contemporary jazz quartet project Earprint received four stars in Downbeat and was named #1 debut album on the NPR Jazz Critic's Poll, and my latest project, an orchestral rock band called Beaverton, released its debut EP in October 2017. I have also recorded and performed with artists such as Esperanza Spalding, Ben Zaidi, and The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die. I have extensive experience with classical brass pedagogy and several methods of playing, and I am happy to help students polish their technique and develop a huge, warm sound on the instrument. But I am also dedicated to helping musicians explore their creativity, and I have much to offer in the way of improvisation (jazz and not), composition, and songwriting. Just as I value the importance of developing technical skills, I am equally dedicated to helping budding musicians find their voice as artists.
