    About Tony R.

Hi, I'm Tony. I LOVE bowling. Every aspect of it. Competition, fun, meeting people, and making people better. You know the old saying, "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach" Well, it kind of applies to me. I'm a natural right hander that has to bowl left handed due to injury. Bowling is a great sport that is even more fun once you can keep the ball out of the gutter, and even more fun as you get better. I'd love to share the journey with you. I typically coach out of La Habra, but can travel within a reasonable distance. Even not so reasonable (for a small fee). I do coach kids (USBC background check complete. Here is my bowling bio from the CSULB website: Tony, was a touring member of the PBA for 5 years, competing in tournaments ranging from Regional tournaments in the West, to majors such as the US Open and the Masters. Among his bowling achievements are 8-300 games and 4-800 series, with his high being 820. Also, a Sanctioned high average of 228. While he did not win a pro tournament, he consistently cashed there, as well as tournaments such as the High Rollers, Mini Eliminator, USBC Nationals, California State Championships, and local association tournaments. Highlights include a 9th place finish in the California State Masters in 2005, 2nd place California State Doubles (1989) and winning titles in the Citrus Belt (one of the largest association tournaments in California) in 1990 (team event), and 2005 (team, doubles, all events). Tony has won too many smaller tournaments to properly list here. Although a wrist injury ended his pro career, he continues to be active in local tournament clubs and charity tournaments. Tony has been a coach since 1994 working with both youth and adults. He gained his US Junior Olympic coaching certifications in 1996, before obtaining his USBC Bronze certification in 1998 He will earn his USBC Silver certification in June of 2015. Tony is also a member of the USBC Registered Volunteer Program, consisting of passing an extensive background check in order to work with youth. He is also a former director of the Orange County Bowling Association.
