I've studied and enjoyed piano since I was very young, having classical piano study as my musical foundation. As a student, my teacher had me participate in our area's Student Piano Proficiency Certification program up through all ten levels. Also, as a pre-teen, I started voice lessons and 'sang my way' right though High School. I pursued my Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance at Cal State University Northridge, and by my second year was cast in leading roles in the Opera Dept. I met my husband there who sang Opera professionally. As soon as I started having children, I began teaching private piano lessons. That was over 35 years ago!! I've taught both Piano and Voice lessons through the years very successfully, though I feel more comfortable teaching piano somehow! Most students who have studied with me continued lessons for many years (5-18)-even into college!-Three of my former students have started piano studios of their own! We still keep up with each other's lives having developed a close mentoring relationship over our long time together. I've lived as a Pastor's wife using my musical abilities to serve God in ministries in our local church in the Chicago area. I believe with my whole heart in the Lord Jesus Christ; He is the source of all my motivation in every area of my life! I have accompanied the adult choir and worship teams in the Sunday worship service.Through this experience, I can also teach students how to improvise using chord charts and lead sheets. Now, since my husband has retired, we've moved to the South (closer to my 10 grandchildren) and now I'm looking to build up my studio again! I take great pleasure not only in sharing the joy of learning to play (in the context of lessons)- but even more importantly - to establish an encouraging, healthy rapport together.
