Percussion with Tomasz K.

Hi! My name is Tomasz Kowalczyk, a percussionist based in Sarasota, FL. I started playing 20 years ago and since then I have been able to share with people my passion and love for music both as a teacher and performer. I have performed in some world's most prestigious concert halls, and I am currently serving as the Principal Percussionist of the Sarasota Orchestra. My goal as a teacher is to give you all the technical tools you need to play with a sense of ease and flow, as well as to inspire you to make your own informed musical choices, grounded in a strong understanding of the music. The percussion family of instruments consists of many different instruments, from drumset, through marimba, timpani and a whole lot more. I am very much well-rounded on all of those instruments, so I can easily focus on one instrument that you particularly like, or we can cover them all as we go. I cannot wait to start working with you! Equally passionate about education, he taught in the Fort Bend, and Katy Independent School Districts in Texas as a private teacher and master class clinician and he currently teaches all levels of percussion and drumset students privately and remotely in Sarasota, FL. Mr. Kowalczyk holds degrees from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, Boston University, Curtis Institute of Music and Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. His past and present teachers include: Alan Abel, Timothy Genis, Don Liuzzi, Matt Strauss, David Skidmore, Robert van Sice and Svetoslav Stoyanov.
