My name is Tokie. I was born and raised in Nagoya Japan. I graduated college with a degree in International Business and a minor in Education. After college, I worked in a foreign exchange department at a bank in Nagoya. At the same time, I started teaching Japanese to non-native speakers. After working and teaching in Japan for 10 years, I moved to the West Coast of America. Since then I have been teaching all levels of Japanese at a local college for over 25 years and have received many great reviews. All of my classes are very popular. Last year, I created the first “Live Interactive Online Japanese class” at the college. These classes became very well-liked by students who were unable to travel to college. I teach a wide range of students, from beginning/travel Japanese to advanced business Japanese. I also specialize in teaching all levels of JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) preparation. I have many students at the highest level JLPT N1. If Karaoke, Japanese Drama or Anime interest you, then we can have fun learning together. Teaching is my passion! I love teaching! My teaching style is to have fun learning without stress. I cater my lessons to the individual student to meet his/her diverse interests and academic goals. I create simple formulas, so that difficult Japanese grammar is easy to understand. I respect student’s learning style with great patience. I strongly believe that repetition is key to mastering a language and try to impress this fact on students while retaining a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. I have 35 years of experience working with older and retired students. I teach according to the students' speed and desire. My schedule is quite flexible. I teach online only. Cancellation policy A 24 hours advance written notice system) is required to cancel or re-schedule any lessons. If students can not notify, then the full amount for the lesson will be forfeited.
