BFA Theatre Arts Minors: Music and Sociology
About Todd S.
I am a singer/songwriter, theatre artist, and teacher that has been singing, playing, and writing music since the age of five. Originally from Cooper City, Florida, I received my BFA from Boston University, where I studied Music and Theatre Arts. I have had the privilege of studying voice privately with industry-leading professors for over 12 years and have been teaching both children and adults- singing, acting, piano, guitar, and songwriting- for the past seven years.
After learning how to create my own music at around the age of eight, I have recorded over a dozen albums with many bands and musicians and currently am playing shows as a singer/songwriter in the Austin area.
I have experience with the following musical styles: Musical Theater, Folk, Rock, Pop, Classical, Opera, Foreign Language, Punk Rock, Metal, Reggae, and Jazz. My lessons are designed for the student to have fun, grow, explore, and learn in a safe and pleasant environment. I believe that everyone has a unique music within them and my goal is to help each student find, hone, and craft it.
*** Lesson Details ***
I truly believe that each one of us has a uniquely beautiful voice. Through our lessons, we will explore music in search of our unique voice and have tons of fun along the way. Whether it be through voice, piano, guitar, songwriting, or acting, the student will become more in tune with their artist-self, learn about the language of music, and develop the creative skills that all successful artists possess.
Most importantly of all, the lessons are formed around your interests and musical desires. As a teacher, I pride myself on keeping the student engaged and positive, while maintaining a non-judgmental atmosphere.
*** Studio Equipment ***
Studio Music room with upright piano, 88-key weighted keyboard, guitars, ukulele, music library, and recording equipment.
*** Specialties ***
I am trained in many different styles of Vocal Technique including Bel Canto singing, Linklater training, Musical Theatre, and Rock and Roll singing. I have been playing piano and guitar for over fifteen years and have both creative and classical training in each.
