Hi, my name is Tim Houston and I am Trumpet player and music instructor in the Omaha, NE metro area. I graduated with a Bachelor's in Music Performance from the University of Nebraska Omaha in 2012 and have been teaching private lessons since 2014. My style of teaching is easy-going and conversational, using various explanations to find what each student understands best. I specialize in teaching beginners and focus on building a core understanding of music theory through scales and chords while emphasizing great tone on the Trumpet. After my students become comfortable with notes, major & minor scales, and major & minor chords, I move on to simple composition and student-driven transcription. When I'm not teaching I am playing in community bands and gigging in the metro area. I play and record with Latin bands, rock groups, wind bands, brass ensembles, musicals (from high school to professional), and church groups. I look forward to meeting you!
