Overview

Hello, and thank you for visiting my page.

I'm Tim & I've been teaching professionally since 2007. I attended Purdue University, Paradise Valley Community College & ASU for undergraduate. I studied music and rhythm extensively in these years and ultimately graduated with a degree in anthropology, specializing in ethnomusiciology. During these years I marched with DCI/WGI groups, PIONEER, and studied under many notable teachers. My career in teaching came in 2007 at a family owned music store in Lowell, IN, teaching local youth, and I have undoubtedly taught ever since. I have been gigging in bands consistently since age 14 & am currently releasing a solo album of my own, written as film score compositions.
My curriculum has to be successful time after time to myself and students; I am confident we will find a relationship that suites your goals!

Playing music is my talent - TEACHING is my PASSION.

He is on of the funniest guys I have ever met! He is very caring and wants his students to prevail. He makes me want to go higher then I have ever thought of going in the music career! He makes me feel like I can be one of the biggest drummers ever. He may be my instructor and I, the student, but he is my friend. One of my greatest friends! And if I make it to the big leagues. I'll be thinking of him and thanking him for everything he has given me! And I'll Remember where I started... in the small reaching room in Gutiar Center with two drum kits and a white board (plus some cool posters).

Tim is an excellent drum instructor! He thoroughly explained all rhythm concepts and techniques to me. He was very patient in working with me to make sure that I had a good grasp of each new technique before I left the drum lesson. He broke down complex ideas and rhythms into more manageable pieces so that I could learn something that was complicated in a quicker manner. In addition, Tim understood that different students learn in different ways, so he gave me various learning systems so I could master lots of different types of drum rhythms. I.e., sometimes I learned better through visualization, so he gave me written notation and sometimes I learned better through hearing and watching so that type of instruction was provided too.

Tim reviewed basic music theory with me which helped me to better understand how to read music. I can read drum notation now and so I can pick up drum books and learn from those. Learning to read music is an extra added bonus because I now have a skill which translates to quicker learning of other types of musical instruments.

Because of his extensive musical background and education, Tim has a wide range of experience with all different types of music and rhythm techniques such as rock, funk, country, jazz, classical, pop, world music, electronic, jungle pop, drumline, African, Indian, Latin, and other techniques. So no matter what type of music I wanted to learn, Tim had already played it and knew how to teach it to me. And he also knew what type of music would be helpful for me to learn so that I could master more advanced drum skills.

Tim has a great sense of humor which he shared with me and so lessons with him were fun and enjoyable! And because drums are Tim's inspiration, he shared that inspiration with me and that is what helped me to become a better drummer. Tim believes in his students and wants to see them succeed. This is what gives me the confidence to continue to practice and know that I will progress in my drum skills. You will not find a more dedicated and passionate instructor than Tim!

Definitely knows his stuff and has been doing this for a long time. Not only that but he knows how to teach it and interpret to someone who is even a beginner. Very easy learning and easy going. I catch myself learning a lot more than I realized I could in a short time.

Tim is Brody's Drum teacher and has been for over a year and a half. As a parent you only can hope that your child's teacher will not only teach but truly invest in your child. My son has learned a lot, been encouraged, and challenged in his lessons. Most importantly, he has had fun and looks forward to his weekly time. Tim is a wonderful teacher and I am glad Brody can keep learning from him.

I searched around for a professional drum teacher in Phoenix for a couple of months before running into Tim. We talked about my goals as a drummer and as a performer. As I started taking lessons with Tim I could see he is really passionate about teaching and playing drums. He's clear and patient and always helps me out when I get stuck. Tim blew my mind once I heard him play for the first time which got me really excited to start working with him. I would definitely recommend Tim to anyone that is wanting to learn he's awesome.
