    About Thomas S.

National Merit Scholar with Bachelor's degrees in Neuroscience and Music Composition. Highly trained and distinguished violist and composer since 1995. In my past tutoring and teaching, I have found that students have had the best experience when we work together to discover why each subject is important to the student- whether they know it yet or not. People surprise themselves when they find the right angle from which to view a formerly dreaded topic. Similarly, in music lessons, I am most interested in how the student relates to music. If you want a teacher who molds you into the image of a virtuoso violinist or teaches you to compose music that sounds like the teacher's, another teacher could help you more directly than I. But for students that want to explore the connections between their instrument and the music they love, the past and the present, I can be a valuable resource.
