    About Thomas A.

It's always a good idea to know about the person with whom you're studying. :) I grew up in a family of educators. My mom and dad both taught in elementary schools for most of their careers, which meant I was always around teachers. 'Education' just runs through my veins. I love working with people from all backgrounds and skill levels and helping them realize and reach their potential. My Education I earned my B.A. Music Education in 2005 and received certification in choral, instrumental, and general music (pre-K through 12th grade). I completed my M.A. Vocal Pedagogy in 2007 with the queen of pedagogy herself, Joan Wall. In 2018, I'll begin my D.M.A. Vocal Performance at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, though I'll maintain my Chicago studio. I've studied voice for 17 years and I still take lessons because I know there's so much more to learn. Musical Expertise I've taught voice in Dallas and Chicago for thirteen years. I've worked with beginning teens to professional adults and everyone in-between. I've conducted mixed and women's choirs at Holy Name Cathedral for nine years. I give talks on arts entrepreneurship and voice/vocal pedagogy and judge singing competitions. I'm a member of the American Choral Directors Association and National Association of Teachers of Singing. I sing professionally and run my own ensemble - the Bach and Beethoven Experience - which performs across the Midwest.

    Experience

    Executive Director

    Jul, 2014 - Present

    Bach and Beethoven Experience

The BBE is a 'nontraditional' group that aims to shatter expectations of classical music concerts. At our shows, music serves a story and is people-centric, so we try to build personal connection between our audience and our artists through stories, music of all kinds (classical, folk, original music, and beyond), and an interactive experience. (As a bonus, we rock the house with some pretty cool and unique instruments, too. )
