Greetings! I’m Teri. If you are looking for a comprehensive tutor with an advanced education and a love for helping students grow academically, then I would love to help! A snapshot of my background: • Grew up in Atlanta • Earned a master’s degree in Organizational Psychology from Walden University, where I graduated with a 3.7 GPA and was inducted into the Psi Chi Honor Society. • Graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a 3.5 GPA. • Tutored students of all ages, backgrounds and academic ability, and I always strive to make learning a fun experience. • Have over 15 years experience writing for online and offline media platforms. In addition to helping students improve their grades, I am also highly dedicated toward helping children (and adults) become successful learners and critical thinkers. My approach gives them the academic tools they will need during their elementary and middle school years in addition to helping them tackle the difficult high school and college curriculum they will face in the future. However, I never use a “one size fits all” approach. I always make sure that every child’s individual earning styles and abilities are addressed in order to foster a more personalized learning relationship. As an avid reader, former writer and editor, I like to include the mechanics of good English in all the subjects I teach. Whether it’s biology, history, literature or language arts, using proper English on tests and papers is essential. In fact, we know that communication skills in general are important, and having that foundation early in life is an advantage in an otherwise competitive world. However, I am committed to creating an atmosphere that is stimulating and adaptive to the varied needs of students, so my aptitude is to remain flexible and adaptable toward each student’s needs. Over the years, it’s been wonderful to witness my students learn and grow individually and within a classroom setting. Whether it’s a graduate student I’ve helped on a research paper or a first-grader I’ve worked with in math, it’s rewarding to know I’ve helped my tutees, even just marginally, establish the confidence and skills they’ll need to be successful in life. I am excited about working with your student to help them discover their own path to learning, and teaching them the communication skills necessary to become successful adults in all aspects of their lives.
