As a current part time teacher for the arts to elementary students through a company called Creative Action, I have found a deep passion for teaching and connecting to students. I have taught dance choreography in previous years to other members of my dance crews, but now I have taken on a more independent role in being a sole teacher of a whole class monday through friday from 2 to 6. I am an avid student myself, enrolled in art school, and spend rigorous time creating art, writing, being highly physically active, and working diligently at my jobs.

Creative Action

As a Part-Time Teaching Artist for after school programs, I teach Monday to Friday at various schools throughout Austin to teach the arts to students between grades K-5, and enrich their knowledge of the various arts ranging from dance, to visual art, to music, to theater. In addition, I must construct and write thorough lesson plans and unit plans consistently throughout the month and report them to my Team Lead. I am responsible for monitoring and teaching 18 students at a time while facilitating the school's rules, expectations, and safety guidelines. For this job I have earned a CPR certification as well as become a licensed abuse reporter.

I didn't even have good handwriting when Taylor gave me drawing lessons. I could not stop my hand from wobbling 24/7, but through use of her methods, I have learned so much and I can actually draw almost anything I picture in my mind with detail! Wonderful experience for me!
