Singing with Taylor K.

Hello! My name is Taylor Kendig, I am a passionate music teacher who specializes in teaching intro level music theory classes and private voice lessons. I recently received my Bachelor of Arts in music performance from the University of Portland, where I met my own amazing voice instructor Dr. Nicole Hanig, who I still train with to this day. I have over two years of teaching experience, as a private voice and beginning piano instructor with various organizations. This last summer I served on the faculty at Oregon Music Academy for three months, where I taught private voice lessons and group classes for pre-schoolers. I currently am the music director for St. Cyril parish in Wilsonville, and I am a substitute teacher with various organizations in Oregon and Washington, including Vancouver Music Academy. I am a local professional performer, who has appeared onstage with local companies in Oregon and has performed all over the world as a young artist, including with opera festivals in Italy, Florida, and Canada. I am an opera and musical theater artist that also has a background and strong love for contemporary music- particularly rock and country/bluegrass. I love working with voices and encouraging my students to rejoice in their own authenticity as a performer. I strongly believe that music lessons should be an opportunity to also grow as a person, and increase a persons level of confidence in themselves. I work hard to maintain a positive and safe creative environment while teaching. I am also trained in the call to protect program, which allows me to have the knowledge to maintain an especially safe environment for children. I have a lot of experience working with kids as well, from serving in various leadership positions with local churches and children's arts programs, to having two wonderful little sisters at home.
