Poetry have you stuck? Get insight from an experienced Creative Writing teacher with MFA

Bring the poem your teacher assigned for a literary analysis or project, and we'll talk it through until you grasp the possible meanings in every line. We'll explore it with a sense of delight for the mystery, but still find solid footing through a tangle of imagery and symbolism until you feel confident in your understanding. I'll build in vocabulary and literary device instruction as we go, and we'll map out key points for your written analysis to boot. Poems aren't scary -- they're little rooms filled with a different kind of music.

Got a scholarship essay or personal statement to write? Got an essay to churn out? Homework feeling overwhelming? Want some encouragement and feedback for your short stories, plays, novels or poems? I've been teaching for over fifteen years, so I got you. Just ask me a question and I'll help you find a good answer. My current favorite colors are blue, green, and red, and my dog's name is Spike. I'm teaching myself to play ukulele. I also remember and write down my nightly dreams. When it comes to writing, it's always been my passion. Whether writing is easy or hard for you, I'm really good at helping you figure out what to write about, how to put your thoughts into words, and how to make your writing sound like the best version of you. We go at your pace, work at your level, and get whatever it is you need to write, finished. Above all, we make it feel painless and fun! I hope to meet you soon.

Taylor has helped me improve my writing skills, build my confidence in my work, and she cared about me and how I’d improve. She’s an excellent teacher and a great person

Excellent teacher, she helped me broaden my horizons in my writing as well as opening my mind to plenty of new things. Literature was always a hard subject for me to hold focus in, Taylor made it feel like melting butter in a cast iron. Not to mention aside from being a teacher, she's a really cool friend and person to talk to when you need.

Taylor helped me explore my writing deeper and talked me through why I write the way I do. She gives constructive criticism on my writing that helped me to grow in my style and skill.
