    About Taryn A.

I've been a tutor in upper level math since 2011 at a tutoring facility in Sandy, OR. As I branch out and set appointments around my own class schedule, I hope to serve more students who need help or review in mathematics and other subjects. My interests in education are anatomy and physiology, science, and math. I have a wide range of experience in tutoring and working with youth from newborns to adults going back to school. I spent 3 years working for the City of Eugene Recreation in Eugene, OR where I was a preschool classroom assistant, after-school program coordinator, and summer middle school group leader. I received inclusion training through the City of Eugene to boost my experience and awareness of working with students with special needs. My summers between 2004 and 2009 were spent at Camp Namanu in Sandy, OR where I worked with youth ages 6-18 as a camp counselor and then as a program coordinator and transportation coordinator. During my time at Camp Namanu, I was a lifeguard, river rafting guide, cabin counselor, and driver. I am CPR certified through the Red Cross. I have also completed training in child abuse and neglect recognition and reporting. My educational background includes a high school diploma from Forest Grove High School, class of 2005. I attended Southern Oregon University for one semester before transferring to Lane Community College in Eugene, OR. Between 2006 and 2009 I studied early childhood education and journalism at LCC. I also worked at the assistant sports editor, transitioning to the head sports editor and then to the news editor position at the student-run newspaper, The Torch, at LCC. I am currently attending Birthingway College of Midwifery (Portland, OR) in pursuit of an associates degree as a Lactation Consultant. My passion for breastfeeding as well as maternal and infant health are my motivation to work with new mothers to ensure a healthy start for their child. I am a mother of 2 children. We enjoy the outdoors, music, and art.
