    About Tarina K.

    Pianist Tarina Kim has performed extensively in Canada, United States, and Europe. Her notable performances include a six-city solo recital tour across Ontario for winning the CFMTA National Piano Competition (Provincial Level); ensemble recital at UBC Chan Center; featured soloist with the Clarion Symphony Orchestra and ASU Symphony Orchestra; as well as performances in Steinway Hall (New York) and Casalmaggiore Opera House (Italy). She also interviewed and performed twice on the Vermont Public Radio as well as on the TV program "Daytime.” A native of Korea, Tarina received most of her early musical training in Canada after her family’s immigration in 1992. Since then, she was awarded the ARCT Diploma from both Royal Conservatory of Music and British Columbia Licentiate with Distinction. Tarina holds Bachelor of Music from University of Western Ontario, and both Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts from Arizona State University. Her teachers include Gwen Beamish Robert Hamilton, Janice Meyer Thompson, Susan Olsen, and Robin Wood. Tarina received further assistance through masterclasses with worldly recognized pianists, including Cecile Ousset, Jon Kimura Parker, and John O'Conor, Vladimir Feltsman. Active as a teacher, Tarina served as a faculty associate at Arizona State University’s Preparatory and Conservatory Program for eight years. During those years, she also managed her private studio of all ages and all levels. Some of her students’ accomplishments include Silver Medal Award from Royal Conservatory of Music (for receiving the highest mark in his level nationwide); several prizes at EVMTA Piano Competition; and 90 percentile or better at Arizona Study Program. Tarina has also served as an adjudicator and lecturer in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Some of the adjudicating positions include Arizona Study Program, ASMTA Honor’s Recital, National Federation of Music Clubs Junior Festival, and EVMTA Winner’s Recital. In addition, she has presented several lectures at Arizona State University and also at EVMTA workshop.
