Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance
About Tammi L.
Singing, like any other art form, is an expression of self. In order to better express oneself, vocal technique can only help to convey one's message and ideas!
It's never too late or too early to learn to sing! I have taught children as young as 8 to adults in their 70s. My top priority is to help people simply enjoy the act of singing. To sing means to put oneself in a very exposed and vulnerable position. As one learns to utilize their voice better, their confidence and self-esteem will build as well. We can start with very simple basics such as learning to read music to more advanced ideas such as breath control and resonance.
Despite my specialization in classical voice/opera, I am very open to teaching various other kinds of vocal music including, but not limited to, pop and Broadway.
I am a classical singer with a Bachelor in Music in Voice Performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. There, I was awarded the Rosa Ponselle Scholarship in voice and was a student of internationally renowned mezzo-soprano, Denyce Graves, and highly sought after voice technician, Peggy Baroody. I will be pursuing a Masters of Music in the fall at Bard College Conservatory.
As a Seattle native, I was a member of Jubilate! Young Women’s Ensemble at St. James Cathedral, as well as a student at Seattle Conservatory of Music.
