Vocal Training with an experienced singer and instructor

Study with an experienced teacher and an award winning performer. Sing for fun or prepare for performances, exams, and auditions. I specialize in students ages 15+ and teach in a variety of styles ranging from Opera, Classical repertoire, Music Theatre, Gospel, and Popular song. My vocal technique stems from a foundation of good breath support, resonance, and body alignment. I create a supportive and encouraging environment but will challenge each student according to their level. As a singer, I've performed with the Royal Opera House; Finnish National Opera; Opera Theatre of Saint Louis; The Dallas Opera; Birmingham Opera Company; San Diego Opera; Deutsche Oper Berlin; and Festival d’Aix-en-Provence to name a few.

    About Tai O.

I am a professional singer specializing in operatic repertoire; however, I am equally comfortable in other genres having grown up singing gospel, pop, and everything in between. I have sung with companies such as the London Handel Festival; Innsbruck Festival of Early Music; Finnish National Opera; Brisbane Baroque; Opera Theatre of Saint Louis; Royal Opera House; The Dallas Opera; Birmingham Opera Company; San Diego Opera; English Touring Opera; Opera Parallèle; Deutsche Oper Berlin; and Festival d’Aix-en-Provence to name a few. I am currently working towards a Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Education at Boston University and hold degrees in Music Education, Vocal Performance, and Opera Performance from Stetson University (BME), Boston University (MMus), the New England Conservatory of Music (GDip), the Royal College of Music International Opera School (ArtDip). Throughout my career, I have been exposed to a variety of teaching styles and methods. I have been fortunate to have wonderful teachers guide me through the process of becoming an artist. Having performed professionally on some of the world’s premiere stages, I have a strong desire to impart the knowledge and wisdom that I have attained; teaching each student according to their own needs. It is my belief that each student should not be solely dependent on their teacher. My teaching approach is one that allows the student to slowly become one’s own teacher; building daily confidence in their own practice and technique. I teach my students to build good, healthy habits in their practicing and performing through breath support, resonance, and body alignment. I strive to create a positive and supportive environment but will also challenge each student according to their level.
