Hi my name is Svetlana, born and raised in Saint-Petersburg, Russia where I completed my BA in English Linguistics and PhD in Adult Pedagogy from the oldest School of Education in the country and gained a Diploma in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language over a career enhancement program at Saint-Petersburg State University. I taught both English as a foreign language and Russian as a Foreign Language at a college level as an associate professor and as a private tutor to corporate and individual clients as well for one 18 years now. In 2015 I relocated to the US to validate my education and professional experience intentionally at first as an MA and now a PhD student at the University of New Mexico. At the UNM I have been tutoring Russian, ESL (English as a Second Language), and writing for 3. Academic year of 2017/2018 I spent teaching Middle School ELA (English Language Arts) at Democracy Prep, a Charter Public School Network at their Agassi Campus in Las Vegas. I quickly establish rapport with the students that I teach regardless of the subject that I teach and my students' age and always tackle their educational goals and interests during my teaching sessions. My students, as well as colleagues, and supervisors characterize me as a professional, responsible, and knowledgeable educator, as well as relatable and easy-going person.
