ABOUT SVEND I was born and raised in Silkeborg, Denmark. I grew up in a musical household, where all members of my family participated in music making. Music is what brings me happiness and fulfillment! I went to orchestral boarding school and entered a pre-college music program for uniquely talented young musicians before attending the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus. Since the pursuit of music brought me to America, I have earned two graduate degrees; one in Cincinnati, Ohio and one at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles where I currently am in pursuit of a Doctoral Degree in Trumpet performance, and Teaching and Learning. On my journey I have immersed myself in many styles from British-Style Brass Band, Orchestra, Brass Ensemble, West Coast Jazz, Big Band, Pop, and of course - Disney movie music. MY EXPERIENCE I have coached and conducted brass ensembles at The University of Oakland, Colburn Conservatory of Music, and the California State University at Northridge. I have also adjudicated solo and ensemble competitions. As a private lessons instructor, I have taught over 40 trumpet players from young beginners, advanced college students to experienced hobbyists. Many of my students go on to achieve success in music even after our time working together. Today most of my work goes toward underserved communities in LA through The Community Engagement Program and USC. MY METHODS I am positively goal-oriented in my career, my teaching and my music performance. A heavy focus will be put on the art of finding solutions to obstacles. This makes music relatable to all aspects of life and will encourage my students to go out and create their own opportunities while having the tools to continually develop their skills. My mission as a teacher is to empower my students to experience what music has to offer them.
