Taking cello lessons from Susan has been a wonderful experience for my child, and it has been lovely for me to associate with her. Susan has passion, warmth, and many years of experience. Initially, it can be a bit overwhelming (especially as a parent with little musical experience) to take in all that Susan will throw at you, but soon you will see the benefits of her broad range of knowledge and the holistic education she offers. She covers the many facets of playing cello, including rhythm, reading music, theory, group practices, careful attention to bow hold, tone production, performance, ensemble playing and listening. She is consistent and reliable. My child looks forward to Susan’s lessons each week and has commented, “Susan always finds something good, then gives me ideas on how to make it better.” She puts a lot of time, resources, and creativity into enriching activities that motivate kids to stay engaged and practice regularly. We highly recommend her!

Susan Miller is an exemplary teacher! I have known her for nearly 10 years. She taught my son private cello lessons for 4 years. He loved his personal lessons that were prepared just for him. Her passion and love for music and her students shines in all she does. I also worked with Susan when she taught my daughter's string orchestra in elementary school. She built a program from scratch that is still delighting young musicians today. I highly recommend Susan to all prospective students.

My mother, Susan, was my first cello teacher. I started lessons at age 5 and continued studying with her until attending college at the New England Conservatory in Boston, MA. It was these early lessons and exposure to my mother's innovative teaching style that ignited my love of music and enabled me to pursue a career as a professional cellist and teacher~ I am grateful for the many doors cello has opened in my life. My mother started the string program in the town I grew up in and within just a few years, a quarter of the entire school was enrolled in the string orchestra! She is a maverick teacher, absolutely one of the best!
