Hello, my name is Susan, and I’ve been a professional harpist most of my life, and an instructor for more than 30 years, since I graduated from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. I’ve been the Senior Artist Instructor at the Hartt School, University of Hartford, for the past 4 years, and teach Harp Performance majors at the conservatory level, as well as Community Division students. I specialize in competition prep, and founded my own harp camp, Connecticut Valley Harp Intensive, in 2009. The cornerstone of my teaching is to first build a solid technical foundation, while imparting concepts of music theory to encourage independent learning ability (aka, being able to pick up a piece of music and learn it independently). I’ve taught many online lessons for the past 5 years, and am comfortable with an online format. I highly encourage setting goals for performance and sharing to keep student enthusiasm strong. I look forward to working with you!+ Read More
