Stuart C. Guitarist, Songwriter, Composer Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Music Composition and Guitar Performance I am a guitarist and songwriter currently living in Oregon. I graduated from Western Oregon University majoring in music, specifically pursuing the Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Music with a dual emphasis in composition/songwriting and guitar performance. I played with the Singer/Songwriter combo for most all of my college career, and emerged as one of its most valuable members. I have studied guitar with Christopher Woitach, and I have studied Composition with Bill Whitley, Kevin Walczyk, Adam Bates and Christopher Woitach. I have played and studied many different styles of music, ranging from Country, Bluegrass and Folk to Rock, Blues, R&B, and many more. I have arranged songs from professionals and my peers alike. I also have written and co-written dozens of songs. I taught with the American Guitar Academy, where I honed my skills as a teacher. I have taught people from all walks of life, all ages and skill levels. I love teaching and helping people reach their goals. *** Lesson Details *** I like to start lessons off by getting to know my student. I like to know what kind of music they like and what they want to play. I really want to know who I am teaching. I use a building block teaching style, where everything you learn builds upon or compliments the previous skill. The most important part of lessons is the practicing you do in between each lesson, but you might not have to practice as much as you think. Within 6 months, you will learn all the basic chords, rhythms, and scales. You will also learn all the theory behind them, meaning you will know how they are constructed, how they interact and most importantly how to use them. I teach with practicality in mind - if you won't use it, you won't learn it. *** Studio Equipment *** Separate Music Studio: guitar, bass, amps, seating for parents *** Travel Equipment *** I can provide my guitar, and teaching materials. I expect the student to have an instrument. *** Specialties *** Guitar - singer/songwriter, rock, blues, indie rock, punk, limited Jazz. Composition - Contemporary Concert Music, American Vernacular and Popular songwriting. Music Theory - The language and inner workings of music 17th century Counterpoint to Serialism and contemporary composition techniques, orchestration, jazz theory and arranging

Stuart is a nice person. Unfortunately, his background is very different from mine. To the point, musically, his orientation is toward electric guitar. Mine is only acoustic. Although he pointed out that fretboard theory and practice is the same for both instruments, the practice of playing the acoustic guitar is very different. Perhaps more significant is that Stuart says and shows that he does not have experience teaching an experienced player as myself. I will not continue with Stuart.
