I began as a musician in my high school drum line, where I discovered my true passion for percussion and music performance. Since graduating, I have toured the country with drum and bugle corps, performed Japanese taiko drums with Alice Cooper, traveled to South Korea to perform in a drum festival, and played countless gigs all over Arizona!
In addition to keeping a busy performance schedule, I love to teach out of my home studio in Scottsdale. I have a fully equipped teaching studio with 2 drum sets, plenty of practice pads, as well as guitars, electric pianos, and a white board for music theory and visual aid.
I strive to keep a laid back atmosphere while teaching, so that students are comfortable and encouraged to express themselves through music. I am able to tailor my style to meet a variety of student needs. Whether you are a fresh starter just looking to bang on some drums and learn to write songs with a guitar, or a more advanced player who wants to develop their sight-reading chops; I look forward to working with you and helping you to forward your musical endeavors!
*** Lesson Details ***
My goal is to keep a laid back and positive atmosphere so that you feel comfortable and are able to learn in your own way. Having worked with a variety of learners, and studied with a lot of great teachers myself, I have developed many strategies to help students grasp the material and understand it in their own unique way.
There is plenty of parking space at my home studio in the driveway or on the street, and it is safe day or night. Parents are welcome to wait in my comfy living room, go shopping at the grocery store just down the street, or grab a latte at my favorite local coffee shop.
*** Studio Equipment ***
Pearl Session Custom 5-piece drum kit,
Roland Electronic drum kit,
Bass guitar and amp,
Electric guitar and amp,
Mac Pro with Protools HD and plug ins,
Large white board and visual aids,
Library of method books, exercises and other resources!
*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide sticks, mallets, practice pads, sheet music and a metronome.
I expect the student to invest in their own sticks, practice pad, metronome, drum set (if needed), and 1 or 2 method books for at home practice.
I can bring acoustic or electric guitar, small practice amp, tuner and guitar picks.
It obviously works best if the student has their own guitar to practice on, guitar picks, tuner, and method book.

Learning a lot about the guitar
I started out with no experience playing guitar. Within a few weeks Stevie has taught much of the fundamentals. I am now feeling confident as I play my instrument.
He's always on time and has excellent communication skills.
I would definitely recommend Stevie to anyone interested in learning about music.

Great instructor with lots of experience
Stevie Hagel has been an excellent instructor for my son who is taking bass guitar lessons from him. Mr. Hagel is patient, friendly, and very knowledgeable of many music styles. I would highly recommend Stevie Hagel for musicians of all ages and styles.
Stevie is as pro as it gets, look no further.
I used to teach for a few years with Stevie. When I was a young drummer in the up and coming marching percussion scene in high school, I used to look up to him as one of the guys I hoped to be at his level one day.
As a rudimental snare drummer, his chops are no question some of the finest in the state. He is further expanding his drum set skills with the bands he performs and records with around town. He is an extremely versatile player. I have heard him play jazz, rock, funk, blues, country, odd-meter, latin, and every style in between.
As a teacher, there are very few out there who are more compassionate, exciting, and caring than this guy. If you are contemplating lessons for your child, I highly recommend Stevie. He has a lot of experience teaching the finest high school programs in the state. If you are an adult looking to start learning, or even an experienced professional, Stevie will challenge you while keeping a positive, energetic, and enjoyable learning environment.
Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions about the guy, but I think you should just take my word for it and give him a call!
