Learn multi-style cello from a professional!

Hello, my name is Steven and I would love to help you or your child progress on their journey of playing cello! I am a professional cellist living in Nashville Tennessee, where I work primarily as a session musician, freelance performer, and producer. Some of my credits include artists such as; Gayle, Hannah Ellis, and Jordan Smith, as well as touring regionally and nationally with various artists. My compositions for film have won various regional awards, and I am featured on the winner of the 2019 International Songwriting Competition in Country Music. Teaching is one of my truest talents and passions, and I am always seeking to learn and grow as an instructor. I have taught students from ages beginning at 6 all the way up to one in his 70's! This passion has led me to publish and present original research at the national and international level, focusing on philosophy of music education and ethnomusicology. I am classically trained (B.F.A. Cello Performance, B.A. Music Education), but I additionally specialize in multi-style performance and education. My studies at Belmont University (M.M. pending 2023) have allowed me to learn from world-renowned musicians such as; Billy Contreras, Tracy Silverman, and Darol Anger, as well as other instructors who have worked with artists such as; Dua Lipa, Alan Jackson, and Hanz Zimmer. Please feel free to reach out and we can schedule a free trial lesson! I am currently accepting long-term students, as well as shorter "boot camp" style lengths of study. These shorter terms can be a useful way to learn a new style, such as Fiddle or Jazz, or a new skill, such as Improvisation or composition.
