Steven graduated with his bachelor of music degree from California State University, Northridge and obtained his teaching credential from Cal Lutheran University. While at C.S.U.N., Steven was the winner of the Andres Segovia memorial scholarship and the Randy Rhoads memorial scholarship. Also, Steven has studied with many guitar greats such as Christopher Parkening and Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne). Currently, Steven is recording and performing with the virtuoso violinist Hekar Rivera and is the lead guitarist in the band Prima Donna Rising. In addition to performing, Steven is on stafff at Rio School District as Artist in Residence. Also, Steven was the head of the music department at North Hills Preparatory School and has taught guitar workshops at the Ventura College Institute. *** Lesson Details *** Lessons are available for all ages, styles and skill levels. Beginners are encouraged to apply. Students will have fun while reaching their musical goals. Students are taught to be musicians and artists through the study of the guitar. Students will learn cool songs, improvisation and music theory. I really love teaching music because I think music make the world a better place! Steven is an extremely well versed and educated guitar teacher. Both in person and online, Steven managed to meet the interests and push the knowledge of music notation no matter what style. My son became a confident player in a short amount of time due to Steven’s vast knowledge and experience. As a 20+ year schoolteacher myself, I really appreciate his student connection and teaching style. An all over excellent experience.

I am beyond delighted to be Artist in Residence of guitar studies at the Rio School District In Oxnard. I am conductor , composer and arrange of The Vista Condor Guitar Orchestra at Rio Vista Middle School . I also am director of the guitar program at Rio Rosales Elementary School in Oxnard. Rio School District is an amazing Arts and Technology based school system that completely supports the arts! Rio Vista middle school boasts 12 music programs!

North Hills Preparatory School

I loved this job. North Hills Prep was a LAUSD alternative school that dealt with "at risk youth". Most of our kids were struggling with addiction, ADHD or asbergers to name a few. I was so happy to be a part of helping these kids turn their lives around with the power of music. The classes I taught were: music ensemble, songwriter/recording workshops, music appreciation and music theory. Sadly, the school was closed in 2011 due to state budget cuts. I'd still be there if NHP was still open...the little school that could!
