Stephen is a professional vocal coach, international recording artist, voice actor, and public speaker. Over the past two decades, he has trained under the best vocal coaches in the nation, studying a variety of techniques including classical vocal training, and the SLS (Speech Level Singing) method. He has also completed certification under the BAST program for singing teachers. Stephen has performed in over ten countries, headlined large festivals for millions, and performed on cruise ships. He's recorded several original albums and singles, and collaborated with well-known acts such as Steve Dorff, The Weather Girls, and The Terri Green Project. This wide range of study (combined with years of teaching and performance experience) has given Stephen a vast vocal vocabulary to help teach others the "secret sauce" of singing. He teaches singers of all experience levels in many genres including R & B, pop, country, rock, musical theatre, Christian, gospel and classical. He enjoys building a foundation of healthy vocal habits with students that will last a lifetime.

I really enjoyed my voice session with Norwood and I learned a lot! He is very passionate about helping his clients to work on their breathing and I could tell how much he cares about his clients because he was rooting me on and encouraging me with every new exercise. Since our virtual meeting, I have been practicing the exercises and they have given me confidence and helped me to improve my breathing and speaking ability. I highly recommend meeting with Norwood. His enthusiasm for his craft is highly contagious. Even if it is just a 30 minute session, he will provide you with exercises and the confidence to improve your voice to the point where you are more concerned with the words you are speaking rather than worrying about how you sound to other people!

With English as my second language, it has been very challenging for me to sing in English. I’ve been taking lessons from Norwood for about 6 months and have seen tremendous improvement in my vocal skills and range. He has instilled confidence in my vocals and in my speaking abilities as well. Norwood is a very patient teacher who has created an encouraging and comfortable atmosphere for learning and expanding my vocal skills. He has an amazing talent for cultivating strengths and improving weaker points. I believe I have benefited incredibly from his lessons and through his unique warm-ups, SOVT, trilling, breathing, pronunciation, and phonetic exercises. I highly recommend Norwood.

Norwood is extremely humble and easy to work with. He never made me feel like I wasn’t good enough but always made me feel like I could reach a higher level of excellence for my unique range. He embraces each voice as its own and meets the student where they are at. He is extremely knowledgeable on how sounds are created, how space is made in the voice, and he is able to communicate that knowledge effectively to the student. In short, I loved having Norwood as a teacher.
