Info for the students: Hi there. My name is Stefan. You can also call me Mr. Maurer if you prefer. I am really excited to be able to teach you about Math. Math is something I find joy in and am very passionate about. One of my fondest memories was when my dad used to take me to stores, and if I could guess correctly what the change would be after he paid, I could keep the change. One day he had only bought an item around a couple dollars and he had paid with a 20 dollar bill. Two things happened that day: I got almost 18 dollars. And, my dad never played that game again (because he did not want something like that to happen again, where I would make off with a lot of money, lol). I would love the opportunity to teach you the math skills I know, and to get you just as excited about math as I am. My classes are fun, and full of energy as well as knowledge. I guarantee that you will learn a lot, and have a great time doing so. 🤣 Info for the parents: I am an individual who finds math fun, and energizing. I find it fascinating at how many different formulas exist, and how there are often multiple ways of deducing the same problem and finding the solution. I can help lead my students into finding the best formula that works for them/they are able to understand. I can guide them towards finding the solution on their own, rather than someone just telling them the answer. What I feel sets me apart from other math teachers, is that I excel with communicating with other individuals who face mental health challenges such as ADHD and Aspergers Syndrome/Autism Spectrum. I have been certified in the state of Georgia for over 2 years now as a CPS-Y (Certified Peer Specialist-Youth). I, myself have Aspergers Syndrome and ADHD. So, I can 100% relate to a lot of the challenges my students may face in regards to math skills and providing an effective learning environment. The reason I call these challenges, and not disabilities, is since people can overcome challenges. While it may be difficult, I have the confidence required to bring out the best in my students, since I, myself, have had lived experiences where I have overcome challenges, and tore down obstacles, despite having Aspergers Syndrome and ADHD. I would love the opportunity to teach my students math and have them also find joy in the math I am so passionate about. Thank you for your time and consideration.
