I am an instructor at the local Technology Center. I have been signing since 1990. I started out in a night college class as a junior in high school. My dad told me I needed to get a head start on my college life. I asked him what was I going to take...He opened up the newspaper and there it was...The headlines read...New class to offered, Sign Language. I enrolled the next day and have been signing ever since. I have to say it was difficult at first because I speak english, and all the words like and, but, or, was etc were NOT in the signing vocabulary. Sign Language is not something you will learn overnight. You also have to practice or you will loose what you have gained. I still to this day practice. I practice while I am driving and well needless to say people stare at me....Oh well at least I know I am retaining my passion. I stay involved with the Deaf community as much as I possibly can. I do have many Deaf friends that well keep me on my toes at times. They like to facetime me and show me a new sign they either made up or someone has showed them and they do not understand why it means what it does. I hope you will give me the opportunity to teach you ASL. It is my passion and I love to see people have an interest. Thank you and hope to see you soon

Exceptional tutor and very patient!
My daughter is a picky teenager. Starrla is one of four teachers in her life that she likes. Starrla is very professional, very friendly, and very busy, because , I think ,everyone likes her
I LOVED my first session! Starrla asked questions to find out my level of knowledge and went from there. I am very excited about future lessons and learning more!
