Mr. Sérgio was awarded a prestigious Artist Diploma and a Master Degree in clarinet performance by the University of Southern California. He has been teaching for more than 10 years and is a passionate and dedicated tutor. His primary responsibilities as a teacher are to guide students into the learning process boosting their curiosity, instructing them on the fundamentals of the instrument by exploring their strengths and weaknesses and holding them to a professional level of excellence. His students achievements include winning first prizes in solo and concerto competitions national and internationally, performing in community and youth orchestras, chamber music groups, and achieving honors on a varied range of fields. Mr. Sérgio can be found performing regularly all over the Los Angeles county and teaching in the Colburn School of Music, Young Musicians Foundation and Harmony Project.
