My students will get so much more than just piano lessons! They will have a resource full of experience, knowledge, and patience from a professional pianist and composer and music mentor working in the music industry today. Besides learning a relaxed and fun piano technique that will allow you to start playing right away, I also teach students how to build more advanced technical skills, play with emotion and finesse, develop very accurate musical ears, find new and challenging repertoire, learn to accompany a soloist or a band, learn different styles of music, perform in front of audiences, understand music theory, and also how to write music. I would love to work with you so that you can develop your musical ability and your skills on the piano. I can help you learn how to really play the piano as a means of self expression, so that you can enjoy starting to learn music from day one.
If you are a complete beginner, it's never too soon or too late to build up your musical abilities, and I would love to help you with your musical journey. We will learn how to start playing right away, while learning piano technique, training the musical ear, playing melodies and chords on the piano, understanding how the instrument works, and learning to play music by ear. I will show you how to read chords and sheet music, to understand music theory, improvise, and even write music if you would like. If you are a pianist with prior experience, I would love to help you hone your skills further and develop the path that you have already started!
I believe in a personalized approach to teaching, based on building a relationship with each student, and I encourage all of my students from the start to express themselves musically and emotionally, so that they can keep their imaginations and interests engaged in all of their musical studies. I place equal emphasis on achieving the student’s long-term goals and enjoying the process of learning, while making progress. We will set goals that you’ll be excited about, and we’ll work towards them together.

Sophia is absolutely the best piano teacher ever! She's punctual, kind, and patient. She genuinely cares that I understand not just how to play the piano, but also the theoretical apparatus behind the music that I'm learning to play. I will take lessons from her until I'm taking a dirt nap.+ Read More
As an adult trying to get back into playing piano it was hard for me to find the right fit with a piano teacher. Sophia displays a perfect balance of encouragement, intelligence, and professionalism in our lessons. Her hours are flexible, and she has so much to offer and talk about with whatever is I want to learn. Thank you Sophia!+ Read More
Sophia was so kind and helpful. I wanted to get my 7 year old Josh involved in music and figured piano would be a good instrument to learn the basics on, especially since I already have a keyboard at home. Sophia arrived for his first lesson on time and was very polite. I sat in on the lesson and Josh was comfortable for usually being shy around girls. Sophia introduced him to basic technique and showed him some of the cool things a pianist can do. She even asked him what he liked to listen to and what he would want to play in the future, giving him a personal reason to practice. I hope he continues as long time and Sophia definitely makes that seem like a possibility. I cannot recommend her enough!!+ Read More
