History with Sophia C.

I have tutored for several years, and, due to my wide array of academic interests, I have gained expertise tutoring in a broad range of subjects. My experience and coursework prepares me to tutor mathematics (pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus & trigonometry, calculus), physics, chemistry, biology, history (world, European and U.S.) French, and English & Language Arts. My own academic path is deeply interdisciplinary: I am currently on track to graduate from Harvard in 2024 with a double-major in History and Chemistry & Physics. I have previously conducted research in magnetospheric physics, biochemical neuroscience, medieval European history, American agricultural history, history of sociology, and Soviet history. I am currently conducting research in optical biophysics and at the intersection of GIS mapping and medieval environmental history. I have tutored students from first to eleventh grade, hailing from all kinds of academic and personal contexts. From 2017-2020, I tutored high school and middle school students in history, physics, math, or French, through the National Cathedral School's Peer Tutoring Program. From 2017-2020, I also tutored elementary-school and high-school students through For Love of Children, a D.C.-based non-profit organization committed to supporting children behind grade-level in English and math. Spring 2021, I conducted private tutoring in chemistry and history, working at the high-school age level. Over summers 2020 and 2021, I have tutored with EduMate NYC, working with a wide range of ages in math, English, and chemistry. My own medical challenges have made me appreciate the value of an individualized teaching/learning experience. In this context, I have come to love both teaching and learning, and I have no doubt that both will represent integral elements of my career.
