Suzuki Method with Sophia B.

Hello! My name is Sophia and I am a Boston University student studying Biomedical Engineering. I am offering guided practice sessions for violin students. I began taking violin lessons at the age of 4 years old using the Suzuki Method. It is a method that emphasizes the parallels between learning a language and learning an instrument. For example, students generally start at a young age and learn how to play beginner pieces by ear before they learn to read music, similar to how young children learn to speak before they start reading. My goal with each student is to supplement their regular violin lessons with guided practice and engaging activities that will make practice seem like less of a chore. I will review repertoire, reinforce techniques covered in lessons, and help bridge the gap between their regular lessons. While it is by no means a requirement, Suzuki violin students will be a good match for me. I have experience performing the Suzuki violin repertoire as well as major violin repertoire. I view my musical education as a gift that was given to me by my family and the wonderful teachers I have encountered along the way, and I am looking forward to sharing that gift with students of all ages. I also have experience with various musical institutes, included one specifically geared towards practice techniques, and I plan on applying those techniques to the student's guided practice sessions.
