Hi, there! My name is Sonsoles (Sunny). I've been teaching private lessons since 1980, and have really enjoyed sharing everything I know, from biology, to drawing and painting. After graduating Valedictorian with 4.0 in Molecular and Cellular Biology, and Genetics (University of Maryland, 1994), I worked in cancer research for 25 years in the National Institutes of Health, and later at TGen in Phoenix, AZ. I have loved arts and sciences all my life, which has given me a well rounded, and balanced education. Both my parents are artists, and they have taught me the beauty of fine art, art history, drawing and painting. Now retired from my science career, I am pursuing my artistic passion, drawing and painting in oils, and sharing it all through teaching.
I have studied with well know artists like Amery Bohling, Phil Beck, James Coulter and Chris Saper. You can see my work here:
I am organized, easy going, patient, and very enthusiastic. I try to share my love for learning and make my lessons interesting and fun. I get great satisfaction from sharing what I know, watching my students enjoy the learning process, improving their technique and reaching their goals! My schedule is pretty flexible and I am open on the weekends as well! I really look forward to working with you!
I have been painting and drawing all my life, but I decided to really pursue my passion for painting on 2010. Now, a full time artist, I specialize on portraiture of children and our animal companions.
