    Sonia is a classically trained musician, who holds Masters degree from Boston University and Bachelor degree from the Boston Conservatory. Sonia has years of experience teaching students of all levels, making lessons an enriching experience for the students. Sonia has an active performing and teaching career in Boston. As an orchestral musician, Sonia has been actively involved with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, Indian Hill Orchestra, Harvard Baroque Chamber Orchestra and the Cape Symphony. Sonia further refined her orchestral playing skills through music festivals such as the Lucerne Festival Academy, Castleton Music Festival, and Napa Valley Orchestral Institute. Through these opportunities, Sonia has collaborated with world-renowned musicians and celebrities such as Pierre Boulez, Peter Eotvos, Lorin Maazel, Denyce Graves, Helen Mirren, Jeremy Irons, etc. As a chamber musician, Sonia is the violinist of the Boston based Voyage Trio, presenting diverse styles of music to the local audience. Sonia appears often with festivals such as the Lucerne Festival Academy in Switzerland, where she worked closely with Pierre Boulez and the Ensemble Intercontemporain, as well as the Castleton Music Festival, under the direction of Lorin Maazel, performing for six weeks the classical orchestral repertoire and collaborating with well-known musicians on opera productions. Other festivals include the Napa Valley Orchestral Institute, Roundtop International Music Festival, Killington Music Festival, Las Vegas Music Festival. As a teacher, Sonia has years of experience working with a studio of students ranging from children to adults, beginner to advanced levels. Sonia is excited to share her knowledge of violin playing with students, helping them to grow in their own ways. Sonia uses well-known classical training methods with handpicked exercises from various etudes tailored for each student, while incorporating music theory throughout their study. Sonia has helped many of her students reach their goals in various auditions and festivals. Sonia holds yearly studio recitals for students to showcase their accomplishments. *** Lesson Details *** Sonia tailors lesson plans according to each student's needs. Lessons usually include classic methods (Suzuki, Wohlfahrt, Kreutzer etc.), modern exercises incorporating moderate music theory at each level, plus special techniques she has found through her teaching career. Her students will usually have a practice log that help to organize and keep track of the students' progress.
