Deeply rooted in my diverse beginnings of a bilingual household and upbringing, I am an experienced teacher and tutor in the English language with a B.A. in Linguistics and a minor in Deaf Education. I am TESOL certified and can accommodate to all ages and levels of experience in English as a Second or Foreign Language.
With my academic background in Linguistics, I am able to introduce English as a second or foreign language with consideration of the 6 major branches of Linguistics (phonology, phonetics, morphology, semantics, pragmatics, and syntax) that can easily be of a resource to you and your own unique understanding of the English language. With my minor in Deaf Education, I am empathetic to any needed accommodations on your behalf to make sure you are provided with the best education and service for you.
My past experience involved one-to-one tutoring in English literacy and classroom instruction in an after-school program where students (K-8) engaged in educational and fun activities, practicing and reviewing their competency in all subjects. Utilizing the student's unique strengths and skills as their greatest tool, I work with students to not only foster their development in comprehension and literacy in the English language, but also bring light to their own unique potential in the "real world."
