Hi, I am Roopa . I am a software engineer by profession . To knit ,crochet or do jewelry is my passion . I currently reside in Germantown MD with my son and husband. I personally feel that being creative is truly being alive.. I try to apply that in all walks of my life..be it programming ,craft work , cooking or teaching..I find ways to be creative. I have learn't several techniques of knitting and crochet from very good masters like Lily Chin, Jennifer Hansen , Robin Chachula ..just to name a few..attending their online workshops ,reading their books articles. I have passionately learn't many techniques in last few years and would love to share my knowledge with people who are passionate like me:) I personally feel knitting and crochet can benefit our kids in many ways .Hand eye coordination, math skills,reading comprehension, concentration just to name a few. I teach all levels from basic scarf to designing your own sweater . I also teach pattern analysis and give some good templates to write your own pattern. For kids once they have some knowledge of how fabric shapes are formed I can start teaching knitting. But I prefer them to start with crochet . My method is purely analytical and mathematical. This helps kids not only be creative but also be analytical there by making crochet and knitting a whole brained activity. The classroom will have maximum of 5 kids at any time.Kids also get to participate in monthly fund raising projects where they do pieces of project and help put them together.. like afghan ,scarves,hats etc.. Types of crochet which I will be teaching.. just to name a few.. Everything will accompany chart reading and pattern reading parallely.. for kids fun pattern analysis puzzles will be presented in every class.
