    About Skyler A.

I'm an award winning bass player with experience in a variety of styles, metal, jazz, rnb and rock being my best. With my band Issues I've recorded more than 40 released songs that collectively have more than 100 million streams across all platforms. While doing that I've gathered 10 years of teaching experience, teaching bass guitar, songwriting, and theory/jazz harmony. I've had years of lessons and formal training at dedicated music schools and colleges along the way. I play bass in my touring metal/pop band Issues and play jazz and RnB at home. In doing that I've become very well rounded! In my years of teaching I've never ran into a student who wanted to learn something I knew nothing about. Wether that is the basics of technique, scales, learning songs, or more advanced techniques like slapping, tapping, 3 finger plucking, or even sweeping, I got you. I also have a very thorough knowledge of music theory and songwriting techniques supplemented by 5 years of formal music training, 2 of which at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. Most great players who started young don't remember how to get good at something because they've been doing it since they were infants. I started later than most so I had to WORK for it, and so I remember and practice "chunking" in my own time. Chunking is the practice of taking on large challenges in small increments, or chunks. This is helped by my clear, precise explanation of concepts. I remember what was hard about learning cadences, so I know how to explain it to best help someone else learn it faster than I did, for example. The hardest part about finding an instructor is finding someone who matches your long term goals, but I can guarantee that whatever you want to do, and whatever kind of musician you want to be, I can help you chunk your way all the way to the finish line.
