English (ESL) with Shirdene M.

Hello! My name is Shirdene Michael. I am a Certified TESOL Instructor and I am so excited to be a part of the TakeLessons Teaching family and can't wait to meet you. I have a Master's Degree in Mass Communications and Journalism, with a Minor in English (Also an Associates and Bachelor's Degrees as well). I have over 3 years’ experience teaching children K-12, and over 8 years’ experience teaching college and adult-level students, both online and on campus, in the United States and China. I have experience teaching English, Writing, Communications, Public Speaking, just to name a few. I love to sing, travel, spend time with my children (ages 3 and 6 years old), my wonderful husband, meet new people, and understand new cultures. Being that I am originally from Jamaica, I also love to cook some Caribbean “soul food.” I like to make teaching fun by using a lot of props, sound effects, and offer a lot of interaction, praise, and rewards. I can’t wait to see you in my classroom as we learn and explore together. See you soon!
