Dear Friends:    I am Shengyuan Z., besides being a nice guy, I am also a dedicated classical pianist. I currently hold a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance degree from San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Master of Music in Chamber Music and Piano Accompanying degree at Rice University Shepherd School of Music. I give solo recitals, perform chamber music with friends and also accompany both instrumentalists and vocalists. I have a huge passion and love to music making and I have even more dedication to teaching and sharing music with people around me. Expect to have a wonderful journey in the world of classical music with me as your guide!   *** Lesson Details *** When it comes to teaching, I had 10 years of successful teaching experience on both teaching private studio and teaching in music school. I taught people from age 4 to 84. I love to watch children grow up in the joy of music, and I also love to show the world of sublime classical music to adults. My plan for teaching is well thought out and I truly believe one will not go far without a rock solid foundation. Students will learn how to read music quickly and precisely, playing with superb technique and learning comprehensive music theory right from the first lesson. I have students passing ABRSM examination piano grade 8 and music theory grade 6, many of them have chances to perform in major school events and some of them entered music emphasized middle school/high school and pass auditions to study with internationally renounced piano professors.    I am a very easy going and caring person but when it comes to the amount of time students need to spend on quality practicing, there is no compromise. Practice makes perfect and also makes the world better! My success as a teacher is measured by your success as my students. World is boring without music and cats and I am looking forward to work with you! *** Travel Equipment *** Students should have a piano at home and have a metronome, pencil and a notebook. Of course, and the music that they need to have for piano lesson. *** Specialties *** My specialty is in classical piano music and music theory. In my teaching, students will start with basic method books such as Suzuki, Alfreds and John Thompson. But the key to a successful learning experience is about student-instructor relation more than anything else. I will help students to build a solid foundation starting with the first lesson and making themselves independent is the goal of my teaching.

Begun in 1920 as the Texas Band Teachers Association, the Texas Music Educators Association is an organization of over 10,000 school music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education. TMEA is comprised of five divisions: Band, Orchestra, Vocal, Elementary and College. On behalf of its members and Texas schoolchildren, TMEA carefully monitors the actions of all state decision-making bodies on issues affecting fine arts instruction in Texas. In addition to many member benefits, TMEA offers professional development opportunities for its members with Region workshops and especially with its annual Clinic/Convention. TMEA supports the future of music education by offering scholarships to music education majors and by sponsoring the Texas Future Music Educators, an organization through which high school students interested in careers in music education learn more about what to expect in their college education and future careers.
