I am currently a teacher at a local high school and a graduate of FIU. I worked as an AmeriCorps member with City Year at Homestead Senior High, where I worked in a 9th grade Algebra 1 class as well as after-school tutoring for grades 9-12 in various subjects. I have had experience with students of all ages. I love spending time with students and helping them to learn new things. The subjects I have experience in includes writing, reading comprehension, math, (up to college level pre-calculus/trigonometry), life sciences, and social sciences, and history. I also give beginning to intermediate piano lessons for the past three years. Previously, I volunteered as a mentor and tutor at an elementary school, where I assisted students with homework, as well as reading and math skills. I volunteered as a classroom assistant in an ESOL class at a high school where I helped students better their English oral and writing skills, as well as tutoring for any class where they needed help understanding the subject such as history, English, and biology. I also worked in a 10th grade biology class where I assisted students with classwork and was able to create and teach lesson plans. I was a private tutor to college students assisting with research, paper planning, and proofreading as well as math up to trigonometry/pre-calculus, social studies, and biology. In addition, I have taken classes in a program where I was able to create lesson plans for life science classes and teach them to students in 5th grade science, 7th grade life science, and 10th grade biology classes. I also volunteered as a computer aide for the library adult services for 4 years, where I helped people with computer basics, the internet, and document creation. I am a very dependable and trustworthy person, and I love having fun with students.

Very patient and understanding with my 5 year old! He hops in chair ready to go when she arrives. She is able to engage my son and allows him to learn at his pace , but yet she keeps the lead!

Shellora is an AMAZING piano teacher! She is very sweet and when she corrects you she does it in a way that makes you feel good about yourself, unlike some of my other teachers who put you down until you finally succeed. I have recommended her to all of my friends and family! You will not regret taking private lessons with Shellora!
